Form Follows Empathy

Silent Green – Wedding Krematorium, Berlin

In 2015, the main Festival exhibition awaited visitors in an unexpected location: the characters took over Silent Green, a new cultural centre in the upcoming Wedding district, located on the recently re-discovered premises of a dormant crematory!
18 international artists presented new original work – sculptures, paintings, art editions and multiples – many of them for the first time in Berlin. Offering a surprising selection of affordable art during Berlin’s Gallery Weekend, the exhibition included animist vases from Korea, polished resin skulls from Peru, darkly humorous prints from Spain, haunting child portraits from Japan and a multitude of fresh, character-driven art mixing pop culture with anthropomorphic spiritualism.

With works by Animalitoland (ARG/ES), Birdo (JP), Brosmind (ES), Stefano Colferai (IT), Joan Cornellà (ES), Yves Geleyn (FR), Loup Blaster (FR), Nicolas Ménard (CAN/UK), Mr Kat (ES/PER), Akinori Oishi (JP), Nadine Redlich (GER), Andy Ristaino (USA), Hikari Shimoda (JP), Sticky Monster Lab (KR), Tado (UK), Wong Ping (HK), Yomsnil (KR), Lucas Zanotto (IT/FIN).
